MRI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging

MRI is a safe diagnostic imaging technique that uses magnetic radio waves to produce pictures of your internal anatomy. Specifically this includes but is not limited to:

  • Head
  • Neck
  • Spine
  • Musculoskeletal System/Extremities
  • Abdomen
  • Pelvis

MRI can detect abnormalities from head to toe. MRI is the safest and clearest way to detect differences between diseased and healthy tissue without the use of radiation.

MRA-Magnetic Resonance Angiography

MRA uses the same technology as MRI, but specifically images the arteries. MRA can detect arterial abnormalities such as:

  • Atherosclerotic/Peripheral Vascular disease
  • Blockages
  • Occlusions
  • Aneurysms
  • Fistulas

Both MRI and MRA exams may be performed with intravenous contrast, gadolinium. This contrast material is unrelated to iodine contrast, although it serves the same purpose.

MRI/MRA Restrictions:

  • Pacemakers
  • Aneurysm clips
  • Cochlear Implants
  • Some metal implants

Upon scheduling your exam, please let us know if you have any implanted devices and if you have had any surgery within the past six weeks.
