Ultrasound is a technique whereby high-frequency sound waves are used to produce images of your organs. Ultrasound exams include:
- Soft tissue
- Small Parts
During the exam a gel will be applied to the skin to transmit the sound waves through the ultrasound transducer. The transducer is then moved over the area or areas of interest. The technician captures pictures of the sound waves and transfers them to film.
There is no exposure to radiation and the gel is harmless.
The average ultrasound exam may take between 15 and 30 minutes.
Depending upon the exam that is required, you may be required to prepare for the exam. Please contact us for the specific preparations for your exam.
